Beta amino acid

The β-amino acid refers to an amino group in which an amino group is bonded to a carbon atom at the β-position. The only common naturally occurring beta-amino acid is beta-alanine. Although beta-alanine is often a component of biologically active macromolecules, beta-peptides are generally not found in nature. For this reason, β-peptide antibiotics are being used to solve the problem of antibiotic resistance. The field was first studied in 1996 by Dieter Seebach [1] and Samuel Gellman [2].
